I wrote a review of 30 Days of Night recently. In case you have a strong aversion of cinemas and movies, the movie is about a pack of vampires who attack an Alaskan town during a month without sunlight, as these very northern towns are wont to go through.
So, what’s the scariest thing about the movie?
My word, the vampires. Honest to goodness. There’s something about vampires that screech and don’t wipe their bloody chins that scare the bejesus out of me. Or maybe I’m just fastidious and like my vampires to clean up after themselves.
Is it good for those with weak stomachs?
No way jose. You get to see, in full glory, what happens when the vamps sink their teeth into a victim. They’re not, how to say, delicate eaters. You know how in some vampire movies only the stupid teenager or obnoxious adult gets snacked on? Well, in those one, no one is spared. Not even nice grannies or cute kids. So you better be prepared for that!
I really pity those folks on the screen. They live in perpetualĀ fear for 30 days. It is enough to drive a person mad. And for some of the characters, it does drive them crazy.
What else is good?
I love the final scene. Won’t tell you, of course, but I thought it was poignant. And you know what, I think Josh Harnett actually acted well in this one! And the actress, whom I only know as the “evil chick on Alias” does quite well too.
See it?
Only if you can stomach horror films. But seriously, watch!
